Dentists-Birch Dental

Our briefing from Birch Dental was to create natural light images that were in tune with the overall brand and office design which promotes a clean, minimal, peaceful vibe. “Branding is the process of creating a distinct identity for a business in the minds of your target audience and the general population.” (quote: Shopify Blog) Knowing your brand intent from the start creates a seamless experience for the client no matter which touch point you enter from or what media experience they have.

The office is a modern space with wood details, soft grey walls and modern black accent walls in metal and glass. While being treated custom videos of sea life float past, showing a turtle exploring a reef across the ocean floor.

The office is located in North Whitby, Ontario and open extended hours to accommodate your busy schedule.

A Fresh New Look: Whitby Town Council

A Fresh New Look: Whitby Town Council

In November we were tasked with updating the portraits for the newly elected Town Council for the Town of Whitby.

Over the past ten years we have worked with organizations to create images that support their overall brand strategy. What is a brand? It is not something tangible – you cannot reach out and touch it – but it forms for an organization a dialogue between it and the people it serves. It is made of logos, missions and its voice – alongside the visuals such as graphics, illustrations and photography.

Our new town brand “features a unique, modern logo, created by a single flowing line that forms a subtle handwritten “W” for “Whitby.” The line graphic begins as a gold upward curve, giving a nod to Whitby’s heritage. The line turns to green to represent the community’s growth, and active and green spaces, before finishing in cyan (a bright blue) to represent the Town’s waterfront and friendly nature. The palette also includes the navy from the Town’s previous brand representing stability. Collectively, the colours signal a community that is welcoming, growing and transforming.”

Each headshot for our councillors knits together each individual ward and regional councillor with a recognizable look and feel. We moved away from department store and school photo textured backgrounds which read as outdated and instead used a modern, solid colour background.

The new website images are a full page width and feature a gradient background – the Savage solid colour papers create a modern look. A gradient overlay ties in the overall look so it remains consistent between staff members.

We are looking forward to the new planning and strategies to come under Mayor Elizabeth Roy and council. We wish them all the best in their new terms and enjoyed the creation of images that align with this refreshed council team.

Family Photography – Aravinda

Family Photography – Aravinda

In our studio we created a series of portraits for this family in traditional Indian dress, formal and casual western wear. Each family, each story is unique and we work with you to create that special session.

Capturing a family in studio often comes with myths. Dad won’t want to be there, teens will be sullen and so on. Dad brought such a special vibe to this session and the teen rocked his session – even doing a model pose. I come to each session without preconceived notions and let the dynamic unfold.

I loved every minute of the traditional outfits. The patterns, fabrics and the cuts were so lovely.

More familiar are the western suits I grew up with in church and weddings. I love the juxtaposition after the formal Indian outfits.

Mom went all out and even had these great shirts made for a casual studio portrait.

Mom looked stunning in her sari – she is so beautiful and if I can a solo portrait of each parent is added to every session. We are in so few of the images we take for our family.

At the end of the day we ended up a a great range of Indian formal wear, western formal and casual portraits for this family. I can imagine how gorgeous this would look in a fall setting in the future.

To book a session with us please fill out our Connect Form and we will send you information and follow up with a phone call to review.
