The world for a Senior Kindergarten student has not been easy in Durham Region or across the world. School has been online, masked and unlike anything we experienced whether we grew up in the early 1900s or the late 1900s (yeah I feel old just writing it). Kids have gotten a rough start to their education and if there is something we can do with our services to make that a little easier we would be delighted to be a part of their journey.
One thing we did during the pandemic was invest in new gowns with the idea that when we opened up we could again offer studio mini sessions for SK gradates. Our two newest gowns are gorgeous matte navy and red with matching hats and tassels. We work with a solid backdrop in our mini sessions to capture three images of your child.
When dressing for your graduate photos it helps to have either a shirt with a collar for under the gown or a rounded neck shirt or sweater. This will allow for the things you are wearing to exist comfortably under the gown.
We create a safe space for kids to be kids. We do short sessions that will not overwhelm them. The connection comes from 9+ years working with kids, years before that running a home daycare and wrangling three of my own spirited boy humans.

Images do not have to come with the SK text – we love to play with the images when we test them out. But we provide our images as you would like them – plain for with the fun underlay text.

This fall we worked with the team at Invest Durham to capture team images that captured their team. This team is growing in size and in turn growing they are growing opportunities in the Durham Region. “The priority of the Economic Development and Tourism Division of the Region of Durham (Invest Durham) is to lead, facilitate and support various investment attraction and expansion initiatives. Our goal is to create and retain jobs, increase non-residential assessment and promote the region as the best place to live, work and invest.”
The brief was to create professional images that were consistent, natural (no makeup artists) and utilized the onsite location to the fullest. The location had an older property barn that was painted this soft blue and it tied nicely into the overall branding which is navy and deep orange. We shot the team using open shade and natural light to create a soft, approachable feeling for the images and the barn boards tie in the solo and overall team shot.
These team shots were captured on a gorgeous property in open shade. The blue barn boards give a uniform backdrop for this dynamic team and the sunny day provided ample lighting.
In order to ensure a smooth experience I walked the site during the same time of day. We chose some options for the images and then had the client decide on which one worked best. Then we set up two options for the use of that spot and they chose this one which softened the wood behind the subject.
The team shot and 14 staff took the morning to capture. We had each team member approve their image on site so that we could speed up the editing process on our end. Everything was wrapped by noon and the team could spend some time face to face outside.

We are delighted to be back working with long time clients as they launch a new website. A strong team in the mortgage industry you can now find their expertise at https://www.laframboisemortgage.ca/.
For each member we created headshots that will support them across social media platforms. Our clients are actively involved in creating images and we take suggestions you offer while shooting. The images for both Denise and Nicolee were part of Denise’s vision for the session making this a true collaboration of business and creativity.
The brick wall behind Charlotte and Syeda is in their office which is in the new building across from Brooklin’s Grass Park. Their stylish space is a wonderful place to sit and work out a new mortgage. We have had the pleasure of working with the team and can say they are all skilled
Using our Team Business package this team created a team photo alongside team headshots and a few additional images for social media to showcase the office. We are not sharing the entire shoot here because they are going to be using them in their own channels.
We have different levels of team business content for small, medium and large businesses that are developed to ensure the brand of the company is reflected in the final product. In working with Cathie we knew we wanted a downtown and urban feel to this session.
Cathie is an experienced graphic designer and visual artist. She has a passion for making the outsides of our buildings make sense . Numbers you can read, signage that works together, paint colours that bring it all together. A downtown location ties into the clientele she works with and their properties and brands. The art of design and way finding is why you can find your way through public spaces easily (or not so easily).
Our chosen location is the new, modern and hip coffee shop Brock St. Espresso on the main street in Whitby. Owned by David and Lorena Purchase this new hot spot has a clean, modern look, lots of historical and modern touches and most importantly espresso.
Using darker windows to make reflections is a great way to showcase a colourful downtown space’s colours and shapes without seeing letters and other branding that can interfere with our creation.
Cathie spends many a day at the local coffee shops working on a cup of hot cocoa while developing branding plans for her clientele. She loves Downtown Whitby and you can often find her sipping a cuppa at Brock St Espresso. Be sure to pop in to visit them – they are a staple in our downtown core.
Clients are meeting us more and more online. Having a strong set of images to show you and your working style is important. It creates an instant connection to you and your brand.

Grade twelve is a journey from teenagehood into adult hood. I wanted to start the session with traditional poses and then we walked the garden walkway to show off the gown, the hat and the journey she is about to embark on. It is always fun working with kids at this juncture as they finish secondary school and have life stretching out in front of them.
Creating some movement we had the client walk foot in front of one another to make a s-curve to her walk and then used the gown and hat/tassel in the wind to compliment the overall story.
To say it was windy during this session was an understatement. We had so many behind the scenes giggles as the hat was swept away but somehow managed NOT to drop it in the water feature even once. I had a good laugh, too, when before my client arrived a young boy was playing with his parents and during hide and seek walked right into the fountain!
Reflections and leading lines give the cool grey and architecture elements a sense of movement and colour. The wind was less in this spot but we still liked the hand on the hat in some of the images. I just love the school colours, after all we do like a purple here at Trinity Design.
When you find a perfect spot where you can climb a wall and bench, give your client the railing and let her relax into the experience. A few head turns to give mom a smile and we got this amazing shot – she just radiates beauty in this one. I wish every graduate would do outdoor sessions as they are so natural and double as senior portraits for your child(ren).
We loved working in this new location in Ajax and surely we will be back to explore more over this summer. If you like this location ask for images here at Pat Bayly Square in Ajax.

Family sessions are one of my favourite types of work in the summer. The giggles of sisters, the parents giving the look, the simple act of capturing portraits in a moment in time. A moment that you will go back to as they grow, as time goes onward through seasons, grades and years.
Kids sometimes shine at different times in the session, I liked two of the images from the brick wall but preferred the way the little one opened up in the later images. There are no rules on how a session should go and sometimes kids need time to open up. This is why minis are not my favourite way to do family work because every child deserves time to shine.
Walking, talking and laughing – these are the images I love making because it speaks so much to the moments we do not capture. The closeness of a family and their aunt, the way a family works and supports one another throughout life’s moments.
Every. Single. Session. I will ask for a family hug. I love them. Expect a family hug in your session.
We had so much fun running up and down downtown Brooklin’s main drag. Balloons are optional but I loved the extra pop of colour they gave this session.
The cover image bears repeating. The vehicle a family car passed down with a lot of meaning. The girls are so sweet in the vehicle and it is for sure one of my favourites from this session.
